*EDIT you can also use the one click vorpx settings alternatively to changing the ini files. You need to edit your Fallout4Prefs.ini, (steam/steamapps/common/fallout4/fallout4 I believe) and change the defaultfpsfov and defaultfps to 120 for both (I found this to feel the most life sized) save the file and enter the game!
#FALLOUT 4 VORPX SETTINGS UPDATE#
So to get started you need vorpx 0.9.1 and the latest update for nvidia (driver number :P) and amd (driver number 2) Over the night, I got fallout 4 working with vorpx 0.9.1 pretty well, the game runs smoothly on ultra settings with a gtx 970 and there are no graphical glitches so far. I'm not concerned if they try to platform lock it, someone will crack it and Fallout 4 is entirely single player so theres no threat of online DRM/Mandatory Content.Hey guys im writing this from work so ill complete it when I get off in a few hours.

Worst case scenario I might have to wait until I can figure out how to get SteamVR running properly, which might mean getting a whole new system. Zenimax would have to go out of their way to stop it (which I would'nt put past them). Also it's Bethesda making the game, not Zenimax. If anything, money talks and thats all Zenimax cares about. I'm hopeful that they will see that its profitable to support both platforms regardless of their disposition towards Oculus. I'm okay never playing Fallout in VR, since I stopped playing the series after it left the top-down turn-based genre and went FPS. The Zenimax double lawsuit (Zenimax vs Oculus Carmarck vs Zenimax), doesn't make any of this easier. With the current war between the VP of VR Content over at HTC vs the VP of VR Content at Oculus. I respect how close they bring it though.

Honestly no game through VorpX (when I used it) felt as good as a native VR game.

With much tinkering you can get a good setup and it feels.okay.
#FALLOUT 4 VORPX SETTINGS FULL#
So yeah, it actually does make Fallout 4 into a full VR game if you get it set up fully.ĭoes it detach your guns from your character's face and put them on the ends of your Touch controllers, so you can play every game like it was Robo Recall? Nope, it can't do that. In the best case examples, it can grant full head-tracking in FPS titles including the ability to duck and lean around as you please (Refreshing in games where your view is always completely level and at one of two potential heights), and yes you can turn your head to aim at targets (in conjunction with your gamepad or mouse or whatever. VorpX takes 2D games and lets you view them in 3D, in your VR headset's maximum FoV (or just on a virtual screen if you prefer), and allows you to enjoy that sense of depth, scale, and immersion that you could never get on a monitor. instead of being able to look freely and point your weapons freely like you do in Robo Recall, doesn't VorpX have a reticle in the center of the screen and you use that to aim like you're in the cockpit of a plane as opposed to moving your arm independantly and aiming? So you have to turn your head to aim at your target? I guess that's the best we can get with a hack though.īy "real VR" you seem to be implying motion controls, which are only an auxiliary component of some VR games, not a defining feature of VR itself.

'cause I gotta tell ya, with the right settings (and decent enough PC hardware) you can get Fallout 4 working amazingly well in VorpX these days. But will they actually release the game they've promised? And will it be done well? I mean it's obviously a publicity stunt Zenimax trying to prove they actually have an interest in VR, while getting gullible consumers to buy from Oculus' competition in order to spite them. Has anyone actually seen any solid information about this since it was first announced? It's worrying / suspicious that such a high-profile title would have so little being said about it (and even less shown) when it's supposedly coming out this year.
